Year 1 Art Week - Kandinsky
In Year 1 we have been learning about the Russian abstract artist, Wassily Kandinsky. He believed bright warm colours made people feel happy and cool colours made people feel calm. We first looked at some of his artwork and discussed what we liked about it. We completed a Walking Gallery where we walked around the classroom and discussed what we liked about his work.
We learnt about the shapes and colours that Kandinsky uses. There were lots of triangles and circles and we even learnt about trapeziums! We coloured in his artwork, thinking about the colours and shapes. We made a replica of Kandinsky’s most famous piece ‘Circles’. We had to use a range of contrasting colours to create lots and lots of circles. We then painted the square to create a background colour.
